September 1, 2020 State Primary Election Information

The State Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 from 7:00 am – 8:00 pm at the YMCA, 110 County Rd. The deadline to register to vote for the September 1, 2020 State Primary Election will be Saturday, August 22, 2020. Voter registration sessions will be held from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM in the Town Hall hallway by the Treasurer’s Office.

Early Voting

Early Voting for the September 1, 2020 State Primary Election will be held from Saturday, August 22 – Friday, August 28, at the Town Hall.
  • Saturday, August 22nd – 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
  • Sunday, August 23rd – 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
  • Monday, August 24th – 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
  • Tuesday, August 25th – 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
  • Wednesday, August 26th – 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
  • Thursday, August 27th – 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
  • Friday, August 28th – 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Voting by Mail

Applications for voting by mail must be received at the Town Clerks Office by Wednesday, August 26th. Applications may be submitted by mail, fax, or email as long as your signature is visible.
****Ballots do not have to be returned by mail. They may be hand delivered to Town Hall, or placed in the white drop box near the front of Town Hall.

Voter Registration & Voter Status

Who may register to vote?

Those wishing to register to vote in Massachusetts may do so if they are:

  • A United States Citizen; and
  • A Massachusetts resident; and
  • At least 18 years old or older on or before the next election.

Election Day

All precincts in the Town of Ipswich vote at the YMCA, 110 County Road. You may find additional information regarding voting location and voting status by visiting the Secretary of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts website and complete the “find my voter registration status form“.

You may register in person at the Town Clerk’s Office or use a form prescribed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for mail in and for On Line registrations. You may register to vote at any state agency or at the Registry of Motor Vehicles when renewing a driver’s license.
