The Ipswich River circa 1900Events

A photographic journey and a stroll along the Ipswich River

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 15, 5:30—6:45 PM: Collins Meeting Room, Ipswich Public Library, 25 North Main Street, , Ipswich, MA, 01938

Ipswich town historian Gordon Harris will lead you on a photographic journey on the Ipswich River, starting from the Willowdale Dam until it joins the Ocean between Little Neck and Steep Hill. Many of the photos of the River are from original glass plate negatives taken by early Ipswich photographers George Dexter, Edward L. Darling and Arthur Wesley Dow, accompanied by memories of the Ipswich River recorded by William Barton in the 20th Century. After the presentation you are invited to join Gordon for a evening stroll along the River on the Sidney Shurcliff Riverwalk and Water St.
