Robert Waite

Ipswich native Robert Waite will talk about childhood in his home town with “You Can Take the Boy Out of Ipswich, But You Can’t take Ipswich Out of the Boy.”

After beginning his career as an award-winning journalist and columnist in Ipswich, Robert Waite covered the 1976 presidential primaries and general election for PNS and later served as their East European Correspondent, based in Warsaw. He subsequently served as press secretary to U.S. senators Edward Brooke and Bob Dole and then managed communications, government relations, and marketing for companies like Ford and IBM. He currently works as a professor at Seneca College in Toronto.

Bob Waite

Waite’s most unusual job was the 14 years he chaired the committee that selected the topics for Canada’s postage stamps! He has a book coming out this fall, published by Marlborough Press, titled, “Ipswich on My Mind”. Proceeds will go to the Ipswich Local News.
