44 Fellows Road, the Joseph Fellows Jr. house (1734)

The house at 44 Fellows Rd. was constructed in 1734 by Joseph Fellows Jr.

Joseph Fellows, Jr. was born in 1678, the son of Joseph Fellows, Sr. and Ruth Fellows. His siblings were Mary Brown and Abigail Fellows. Joseph Fellows Jr. and his wife Sarah had two sons, Joseph Fellows and Benjamin Fellows. He died on September 8, 1762.

The corner of Upland Road was known in early days as Fellows Lane, and it was near this corner, perhaps on this lot, that William Fellows, who settled in Ipswich in 1635, is believed to be buried.

  1. William Fellows was my Gr Grandad x 7 or 8 generations. My husband and I just visited Ipswich to see Fellows Road and the graveyard. I thought perhaps he was buried on his farm. My mom was born a Fellows in Nebraska.
